The legendary FESTA DEI CERI takes place in Gubbio on May 15 of each year. Tradition has it that a party in honor of St. Ubaldo, bishop and patron saint of Gubbio, who died in 1160, and would be the result of the transformation of an original offer of wax that medieval guilds eugubine donavano to the patron. Palio della Balestra
The Palio of the Crossbow in Gubbio on the last Sunday of May. The second challenge of the Palio della Balestra is held the second Sunday of September in Sansepolcro.
The traditional crossbow is organized by the Society of the City of Balestrieri Gubbio and Sansepolcro, within the celebrations in honor of their patron St. Ubaldo Gubbio’s patron St. John the Evangelist and patron of St. Sepulchre.
